Aroma laboratory 'On Taste' Exhibition
Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht 1999-2000Maurice Mentjens designed the layout of the third floor of the Bonnefanten museum in Maastricht for the ‘On Taste' exhibition (comprising an aroma and taste laboratory, a cheese tasting area, a smoking room, a water+oxygen bar and two exhibitions: a water collection and a perfume collection).
Exhibitors included:
Ettore Sottsass, Malcolm McLaren, Lidewij Edelkoort, Anthon Beeke
The dramatically lit room accommodates an arrangement of 10 perfume bottles designed by Maurice Mentjens containing important industrial fragrances of the 20th century, such as Chanel n˚5 and Old Spice, as well as the fragrances used in Omo washing powder and Cif cleaning products. When the squeeze ball is pressed, air is pushed through the perfume and the fragrance is emitted through the tube.
